State Level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation-2007

The pamphlet distributed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) reads:

"To bring electricity to your doorstep, it takes a minimum investment of around Rs.3-4 Crores per 'megawatt'. A lot of it is in foreign exchange.

Shocking, isn't it?"

Shocking indeed; and how easily would we forget to switch off the electrical appliances when not in use, thereby wasting electricity. To drive home the efficient use of electricity at homes, offices, industries, fields etc., for overall economic growth of the country, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency has been organizing Painting Competition for the students of standard IV and V on the themes of Energy Conservation since past three years under the National Campaign on Energy Conservation.

Coinciding with the Children's Day, the State Level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation-2007 was organized at Banquet Hall, Itanagar on 14th of November by BEE in association with NHPC and Directorate of School Education, Government of Arunachal Pradesh. Altogether 38 participants, out of 50 selected students from School Level Painting Competition organized at various schools of the state, took part in this State Level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation and showed their creative skills on the following themes: -

  1. Global warming is harming.
  2. Today's electricity wastage is tomorrow's power shortage.

(Doesn't the themes sound bit tough for standard IV & V students?)

The work of Taku Kuru of Love Dale Residential School, Ziro was adjudged best followed by Arnab Kumar Das of Divine Word School, Roing and third went to Ms. Nani Rima of Kingcup Public School, Itanagar. They bagged cash award of INR 10,000/-, 8,000/- and 5,000/- respectively.
