Arunachal Diary is back
The technical snag that resulted has left me 'scavenging' the net for traces of posts and comments from Arunachal Diary left in web space available to be recovered. I was able to recover some and lost some.
Now you would find salvaged Arunachal Diary without a comment in the recent posts. I do sincerely apologize to those commenter whose valuable comments I could not recover. It was all my mistake that I did not took back up of the posts and comments before server failed. It has taught me a lesson, though. And in all probability, from now on, I'd be backing up datas; as you know now that datas are not always safe in server. And for the meantime, I'd be using the skin till I'm able to skin Arunachal Diary with customized theme.

What's up LSYO?
It is information to general public of Raga & Yachuli Constituency that there will be meeting on 03-04-10 at Hotel Arun Subansiri, Itanagar, Time 10 a.m. onwards to discuss about Hapoli township. NES, ANSU, AYSU, ARASU, intellectual, senior leaders etc. with panchayat leaders also present. All are requested to attend positively.-Signed, President L.S.Y.O
What's up? When you are calling a meeting to discuss about Hapoli Township, why invitation only for NES, ANSU, AYSU, ARASU intellectuals, senior leaders, panchayat leaders of only one community? Why have you forgotten to invite the residents of Hapoli Township?
BTW who's this LSYO? If I'm getting it right LSYO stands for Lower Subansiri Youth Organization. If yes then, when you are inviting ANSU, AYSU and ARASU why didn't you invited the students' and youth organisation of Lower Subansiri District like ALSSU or ASU or AYA? And moreover, when you are discussing about Hapoli Township, why conduct meeting at Itanagar and not Hapoli? Is Itanagar closer in distance to Hapoli Town for public of Raga & Yachuli Constituency? Or is there any ulterior motive? Only those who attended the said meeting today would be able to tell what's up?
Below is the circular as published in The Arunachal Times.
P.S. Those who attended the said meeting today, do please tell us what's up?

Thank You
So, am I disappointed?
On the contrary, I’m not. In fact, I’m overwhelmed. Being a blog focusing on a niche subject of Arunachal Pradesh and having very limited reach, I was not expecting that much vote (see the result stats here) and considering the other widely read blogs to which it was pitted against, I was expecting Arunachal Diary to be in the bottom in category to which it was nominated for. But you’ve proved me wrong. Thank you guys for taking out your valuable time to vote for Arunachal Diary.
Also congratulation to all the wonderful blogs that has won the award in the categories to which their blog was nominated.

How to share GPRS connection on your WinMo (Widows Mobile) based phone with laptop over Bluetooth
Does the title of this post seem quite off topic for Arunachal Diary? Sure it is. Then why am I doing a post on this in Arunachal Diary, you would wonder. So, here is the story. (If you’d like to skip the story part and like to jump directly to How To…then click here)
The Story
Having moved places, I was looking for a service provider that could provide me with a broadband connection so that I could continue with updates on Arunachal Diary. Having better facility than Ziro in my new place, I thought it would not that be difficult to get one; only to know that it is not as easy as I thought it would be. So, in the meantime I thought of activating the GPRS service on my phone so that I could update Arunachal Diary with short post over GPRS through my WinMo device (I’m using HTC Touch with Windows Mobile 6.1). But updating Arunachal Diary with short posts over WinMo device was not a smooth sail either. (I bet, those using touch devices would surely vouch for the pain in typing out using onscreen keyboard) So, I decided to share the GPRS facility on my WinMo phone with my laptop; but the question was how do I do? After ‘Googling’ for a while, I found out how to share the GPRS connection so that I could surf the net on my laptop using GPRS connection on my WinMo based phone. And I thought why not share the little knowledge that I gained over the net so that you readers gain from my experience; hence this off topic post.
How to share GPRS Connection in WinMo based phone with your laptop over laptop?
A picture says thousand words, but in this tutorial I would not be using any snapshots of WinMo screen but would rather use words only to tell you how to share your GPRS connection on WinMo device with your laptop. Here are the steps: -
- Pair your WinMo PPC with your laptop.
- Go to Start>Programs>Internet Sharing in your WinMo PPC.
- Select Bluetooth PAN in PC Connection selection box.
- Select your network connection in Network Connection box.
- Press Connect button.
- Now right-click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray on your laptop and select Join Personal Area Network.
That's all and now you can use the GPRS service on your phone in your laptop to surf the net.
Have fun!

Still far from regular updates...
And I'm recuperating very well.
But when I thought I'd be updating AD, I've to move place. So, till I'm settled at new place..get my phone and broadband connection...updates would take back seat again...may be another couple of weeks.
However, in the meantime, I've asked Cho and Tallo to keep you updated about Arunachal till I'm back to regular posting and I hope they would do. So, do keep visiting Arunachal Diary for regular updates.
P.S.: - No, I was not threatened ... it's just my health :)

Shopping online
Though the advent of online stores has given consumers the convenience to shop for product/s from the comfort of their homes and with a mouse click, I had never preferred shopping online but rather always preferred the conventional way of shopping. The reason may be because I was and am apprehensive that my account would be compromised while transacting online, that I don't get chance to see and feel the product before making purchase as in conventional way, that I would not be delivered with the same quality product that I ordered for or that the product may not be delivered to you safely.
However, putting aside my apprehensions, I thought of finally to give online shopping a try-at least for experimental sake. So I Googled for online stores. Apart from plethora of online stores thrown at by Google to me, I quite liked this site, which though basically not an online store, but nevertheless which helped me in carrying out my first purchase online.
Now you would ask how's that so? Well, apart from listings of online stores ShopWiki has an user or rather consumer generated product guides on plethora of products like cameras, kitchen appliances, books, clothing, movies and music, food processors, consumer electronics, hand mixers, stand mixers, memorablia, dinnerware, flatware, appliances, computers and softwares, and so on. And the product buying guide listed over the site helped me in selection of products to buy.
Now that I have carried out my maiden online shopping, let's see if the experience will wash away all my apprehension about online shopping or would it embolden my apprehensions.
And coming to you, share with us how was your online shopping experience?

New Look-Arunachal Diary goes Green
Update 10:23 PM
I'm totally lost... new template is totally behaving abnormally. The header image is appearing at it's will. When I checked in Mozilla browser, it is showing but when I open Arunachal Diary in IE it is not. So, what now. Would I revert back to earlier template? No. I'm trying to sort it out without reverting back to earlier template. May be posting would take a back seat. Well, just kidding...both fixing bugs and posting will go on simultaneously. So, do keep visiting.
Update 5:15 PM on 28-02-2009

It's New Year
The first of January
Still covered with snow
And the trees still dry.
People still on the streets
With sweet memoir
Of the Christmas Eve
And their cheeks going roseir
Leaving the sadness
Of the last year
And welcoming the happiness
Of this wonderful year.
It's the time
When we take resolutions
New ones to fill in life
To make it full of perfections
In all this process
Life seems more beautiful
People more closer
And everything wonderful
In such an occassion
Each and every creature
Should always be thankful
To one and only: Mother Nature.

Happy New Year 2009!
Well, it's time to retrospect the past and plan for the New Year ahead, right. But before that, let me share how the Hapolians bode adieu to the year gone by.

Now retrospecting, the year 2008 saw Arunachal Diary not being updated at regular intervals unlike previous years. The blame goes entirely to me and partly on the disruption of broadband services at Ziro, owing to the June 14th torrential rain. However, as a part of New Year resolution, I've resolved to keep you updated more frequently on the happenings of the state, this year. Hope I'm able to keep my resolution. Also, I'm working on face lifting the site and hopefully you would see the face lifted Arunachal Diary soon :)
And once again, Happy New Year!!

Merry Christmas !!
Signing off with a poem on Christmas titled 'Christmas Eve' by G. Ampi.
Christmas Eve
- by G. Ampi
Dark night
But beautiful sight
With moon and stars
Shining so bright.
Angels blessing us
With happiness and success
On this occassion
As we celebrate Christmas.
People in streets
People at homes
Enjoy every moment
Of the musical notes.
Singing melodies
With everyone
Forgetting the fury of cold
And remembering dear one
It's the time
Rich or poor
People dance
Till feet are soar.
Men and women
All pray together
Crying and smiling
They hug each other.
You, me and they
Know what day it is
And when it's over
We say, 'bye Mister or Miss'
But as we go
We take with us
Every moment
Of love and happiness.

AD is still alive!!
Well, this is a very short post to announce that Arunachal Diary is still alive and kicking but for the forced short hiatus I had to take due to unplanned trip down South to Bangalore (Bengaluru) and to Coimbatore, which kept me out from updating the blog. Watch out for the space till I update myself with the latest happenings of the state and let you updated about Arunachal Pradesh. :)
Thank you all for visiting Arunachal Diary even when it was not updated for a while.
