Getam Apang & Naren Rai released-Has the ordeal of Apang Family ended?

The 10 days ordeal of family members of Getam Apang, youngest son of former CM Gegong Apang and Naren Rai ended on 27th June, when the abducted duo walked free from their abductors to Holongi police station to be united with their family members.

But hey! Wait. Has the ordeal of family members of Getam Apang really ended?

Not so, if we go by the reports appearing in the media. Gegong Apang has been accused of staging the kidnap drama by family members to gain political mileage by Dorjee Khandu.

"It is unfortunate that Getem and his music teacher were abducted from the heart of the state capital, but what can the government do if family members are involved in such crimes?" Khandu, who had dislodged Apang in April last year after revolting against him, told a press conference here.

He said "It is unfortunate that political mileage was sought to be derived by attempting to show my government in poor light." (link)

However, the former CM Gegong Apang has denied the charge that the kidnapping was handiwork of the insider and has demanded CBI probe into the abduction.

Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang, whose youngest son returned home from captivity, today demanded a CBI probe into the kidnapping and denied the charge that it was the handiwork of an insider.

Addressing a press conference soon after the one convened by the Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, Apang said, "How can a relative kidnap my son at gun point".

A maternal uncle of Getem Apang and two others were arrested in connection with his kidnap and the Chief Minister had said his government could not be blamed if family members were involved. (Full story here)

Well, only proper investigation into the kidnapping case would tell if the entire abduction case was or was not a drama orchestrated to gain political mileage and to put the ruling government in a poor light. But the government has to agree for sure that the law and order in the twin capital Township of Naharlagun and Itanagar is deteriorating and needs immediate attention.

Well, in the whole drama ,tragedy and comedy the ignorant AP public has missed the real questions:

1.Who are the trustees of Donyi-Polo group of institutions? What is the criterion of selecting these trustees?

2.Where from they get the massive funds to run these, and how are they spent?

3.What is the Methodology by which a half-pant-wearing young man is selected as Director of such an Institute??What are his academic credentials?

4.Why are the members of a particular family continuously occupying all the top slots of this group of institutions since its origin nearly 3 decades back?

5.How come a young man without any job other than fiddling with guitars and casio able to cruise around in a foreign made sports car??

The answers to above will illustrate what ails our state.

Hi Buru, thank you for bringing some of the unquestioned questions.
It is unfortunates that Getang had been kidnapped from the hearth of the capital. It will be more unfortunate if it had been staged for political mileage.
Now public has to decide why our state is lagging behind so much. Our political leaders starts driving luxury cars after staying in power for few terms. From where this money comes? Are not they filling up their pockets with public money ?

Lets forget about these so called BIG SHOTS!!
why not post some news on the current conditions in Ziro...
I heard people are finding it really hard to get on with their daily chores as the two main roads connecting Ziro has collapsed!!
What is our GOVT doing, what about our so loud MLA? is he doing anything?? or is it just an opportunity created for the outstationed businessmen?? Please put up something about it!!!
by the way Donyi Polo foundation or whatever does not concern us, Mr Apang is selling out our culture to some GOONs!! Lets talk some sense here...
Sorry if I sounded little harsh....

" by the way Donyi Polo foundation or whatever does not concern us,"

    Horbill(sic),

It does concern us as a lot of public money is involved in its running..
And the Rs.8 Crore Ransom money if paid( I'm sure money has exchanged hands, how much is moot)also did not drop from the sky--we all know nobody has a large genuine business/industry/enterprise in AP for that kind of money; it has to ultimately come from ill-gotten public funds.

    * Your complaint on Ziro road-block reminds me of the " East-West Highway" that was announced with great fanfare sometime back;)

to hell with apang and his family!.i personally believe, inspite of doing good to our beloved state there has been a lot of goddamn robbing buisness by mr. apang,i dnt believe his assets and properties are hard earned, properties yearning in crores, and the rumor that he has an account in the swiss bank, perhaps may be.Misappropriating the funds for illeterate and innocent people by the central govt, buffering stocks of thousand rupee notes might have been his buisness and added paying the radical banned outfits sometime during his reign, together for a decade with his associates ,,so called his council of ministers. He shouldn't demand CBI probe into the recent kidnapping, but an inquiry be laid and put against him about everything.I believe it was a drama conspired and staged by him for political sympathy. He shouldn't stand again in power. And further i add what has he done about creating awareness about the risks of the chinese forces that is intensifying and threatning the land of the rising sun everyday, and it is to be noted that terrorism in changlang and tirap took over these districts during his time as CM,i believe he was least bothered.Great power comes with great responsibility, but he forgot the responsible side of the power.Thumps down .Its quite obvious, the kidnappers were upto something,if the whole wasn't staged, perhaps money, for they know he has a lot lot lot a lot and lot of easy money to pay them...........................???everybody can see big sized loopholes about him but no one questions...WHY ?

Its it very unfortunate the way the present Chief minister and Mr. Apang are handling the aftermath of the release of Getang Apang . Its it insensible on the part of both side exchanging the blame game . But i find it more ridiculous that a leader like Mr.Apang to comment on communal line.
Apang said: “We Adi tribesmen have never heard of an uncle having nexus with his nephew’s abductors, the practice may be in vogue in the Monpa community.”" The link on the comment http://www.telegraphindia.com/1080630/jsp/northeast/story_9482667.jsp

How can he victimized the whole community because of the political differences between them? Look , how narrow minded is the person whom we elected for the longest duration of time as our Chief minister?

    @anony,
It indeed is sad...but then what can you expect from the state politicos....both are chips of the same block...only wished that they keep the communities out of their political vendettas.

Please don't take it the other way... I am just little annoyed with the absence of any news about the "ROAD BLOCKADE"... Its not just road blockade mind you!! it is something that affects the whole of the TANII valley... we cannot sit hands in hands as our people suffer silently as there is no aid from our governments side... 8 crores or whatever does not concern us in the sense that it would never be utilized for our people... and by the way DONYI POLO foundation or whatever is not at all a public entity, its just a brain child of Mr. Apang. I am proud to be born as Apatani, and you must be too... lets share some news froom our place, for instance you can post something about the GOVT's action plans on the soaring prices owing to the "ROAD BLOCKADE"... something that concerns our people... Apang's SON lives or die doesn't affect us, But breakdown of ZIRO's already fragile infrastructure does...
lets be PRACTICAL... for our people...

    Horbill,

    Think global, act local;)

*Donyi-polo foundation acc to my knowledge is state-aided, so it does concern us.Because each one of us only thinks of immediate self-aggradizenment we only look up to the 'Govt' when we are directly affected. The rest of the time, situation is as below--

    Mr. BURU
    Think GLOBAL, act LOCAL???

Thats something we must and I agree with you... and thats exactly what I am urging our generation to do...
Lets look at the bigger picture... when we say "STATE aided" it has to be something that starts with a good intention!! look around dear pal, where are we??? What has become of our culture, our tradition??? we end up with some sort of (DOLYI POLO) temple manned by some alien looking PANDITs.. is that our DONYI POLO?? and we tend to take it on our stride!! who is responsible for it?? Money is nothing it comes and it goes... our culture and traditions once corrupted would lose its distinct elements... just imagine somebody calling you APATANI HINDU!!! and remember this category would be at the bottom of the HINDU class... thats where this so DONYI POLO foundation is taking us to... and thats the reality... and don't worry about the money, its not much of our money, VHP and RSS are more than happy to pump in monsterous sum, to our state(mind you, not for our cultural growth... Please refer to their agendas for details)... as they dream of colonizing our state and make it a HINDU state... and yes, they are suceeding... people like us must, if we have to, demolish such foundations or whatever and die if we have to for the preservation of our real culture and tradition... Mr. Apang has sold his soul to these groups... lets not plunge ourselves with him... Money is nothing when we look at our deteriorating cultural fabric...
Mr. BURU take your time and think about it... if you're at Ziro go check out some DOnyi POLO temple or whatever, see what they are making our innocent people do...
    you'll see the true picture...
I hope you will understand the complex politics that is involved in this so called DONYI POLOISM...for any clarification please feel free to mail me... I'll be more than happy to help you... or for that matter, anyone can mail me who share the same view...

    Horbill,

I agree with most of what you said but I think you misunderstood me;)
I was basically trying to say that we(AP public)instead of asking real questions(eg public propriety) which came up in this kidnapping episode, are actually asking useless ones( eg stage managed or genuine etc).
I used Donyi Polo Foundation story as an illustration of my point--nowhere have I supported it;) In fact the Donyi-Polo Foundation is a money-minting business for Apang family and its an insult to the name Donyi-Polo;)

    Dear BURU,
Sorry If I did took some of your words otherwise! I am glad that there are atleast some who share my view!
And you know we need to do something about it... what do you say??
Is it possible for us to create an organisation that would solely work towards imparting right knowledge to our people?? Yes it is possible!! we have so many issues to raise, so many conspiracies to bust... please feel free to mail me your views...
