Arunachal Festival

To commemorate the Statehood Day, Arunachal Pradesh Government is all set to organize ‘Arunachal Festival’ from 20th to 22nd of February, 2009. This 3-day festival will see Cultural Shows, Food Bazaar, Handloom & Jute Expo, Flower Show and Sports events.

In order to have logo for the event, the administration has put up a ‘Logo Designing’ Contest, the winner of which will be awarded a cash prize of INR 2000/- during the Statehood Day Celebration.

Who can participate and what are the Terms & Conditions?

  1. Any resident of Arunachal Pradesh can participate.

  2. Entry should be in form of logo (obviously as the contest is a 'logo designing' contest :)) that will be used during the event.

  3. Entry should depict the theme of celebrations.

  4. It should be original work, not plagiarized one.

  5. Selected logo will be property of administration.

  6. Decision of the committee for selection of logo shall be final.

But alas, you have only few hours left to submit your design as the last date of receipt of entry is today. However, if you are creative enough and can come up with a design in an hour or so, dash in your entry via email to festivalofarunachal@rediffmail.com or if you are at Itanagar, deliver the entry personally to Sibo Passing, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Capital Complex, Naharlagun or you can even fax your entry at 0360-2351232. Only question is how they are going to judge the faxed B/W entry, because color in a logo conveys so much meaning. Well, they might be having the answer :)

Do let me know if you were able to come up with a design and was able to submit your design subsequent to this post.

    Thanks AG for putting this on your blog otherwise people like me, not residing in capital complex could never ever know about these activities as we are getting local print media after 2-3 days.
    Now I am sure we are not good planners. A program of such intensity is being organised in such a jiffy that it seems a total waste of money and resources. Till date no information is available over internet (except this post you made in AD) to let people know about this mega event. Other states in NE are also organising similar kind of festivals of state but they starts publicising it before 6-8 months ago and gets tremendous response from across the globe. In our case even Arunachalee youths living/working out side the state are unaware what is happening or going to happen back at home. I have written a mail on the given email ID of organisers' and let’s hope they should upload some information about this at least on govt. web sites to facilitate the people from out side intending to visit.

    @Arif,

    I too got the information through the ad for 'Logo Competition' in local paper. The formal press report of the same just appeared recently only.

    Going by the press report where the organizer has called for ideas for the event now only, it seems everything was done in a zippy without proper planning. Nevertheless, let's hope the show is pulled off successfully.

    I agree with you that had the event been planned properly and given wide publicity in advance through net and print media, it has the potential to draw in huge response than it could be drawing now and probably may be a sponsor or two if the organizer is facing fund crunch ;)

    @Daachan,
    Well, let's hope this time no deserving candidate is deprived :)
